Three Types of Solenoid Valve
Direct-acting Solenoid Valve
WWhen energized, the solenoid coil generates electromagnetic force to lift the shut-off piece from the valve seat, and the valve opens; when de-energized, the electromagnetic force disappears, and the spring presses the shut-off piece on the valve seat, and the valve closes. Direct-acting solenoid valves are suitable for vacuum and low-pressure environments, the through diameter is generally not more than 25mm.
Pilot-operated Solenoid Valve
When energized, the electromagnetic force to pilot hole open, the upper chamber pressure drops rapidly, the formation of low pressure difference around the closing member, the fluid pressure to push the closing member upward, the valve opens; power failure, the spring force to the pilot hole is closed, the inlet pressure through the bypass hole rapidly chamber in the shut-off valve around the formation of the lower lower on the upper pressure difference, the fluid pressure pushes the shut-off member downward movement, close the valve.
Pilot operated solenoid valves are suitable for high-pressure environments, the installation needs to meet the conditions of differential fluid pressure.
Step-by-step Direct-acting Solenoid Valve
It is a combination of direct-acting and pilot-operated principle, when the inlet and outlet no differential pressure, energized, the electromagnetic force directly to the pilot valve and the main valve closure upward in order to lift the valve open. When the inlet and outlet to start the pressure difference, after energizing, electromagnetic force pilot small valve, the main valve lower chamber pressure rises, the upper chamber pressure falls, so as to use the pressure difference to push the main valve upward; power failure, the pilot valve using the spring force or medium pressure to push the closing member, move downward, so that the valve is closed. Step-by-step direct-acting solenoid valves can work in a variety of pressure environments, but the power is larger and needs to be installed horizontally.
Key Factors to Consider
- Media type: Determine if your application involves liquids, gases or vapors. Ensure that the valve material is compatible with the medium (e.g. brass, stainless steel or plastic).
- Pressure and temperature: Check the operating pressure and temperature range of your system.
- Valve Size and Flow: Match the valve size to the pipe diameter and flow requirements. Make sure the flow coefficient of the valve meets the system requirements.
- Voltage and power supply: Select a valve with the correct voltage. Consider power consumption, especially for battery powered systems.
- Function: Choose between a 2-way, 3-way, or 4-way valve for your application. Determine whether you need a normally open or normally closed solenoid valve.
