What is flange butterfly valve?

Connection method
The most obvious difference between flange butterfly valves and wafer butterfly valves is the difference in connection method. The flange butterfly valve is connected together by bolts and sealed by gaskets between the flanges, while the wafer butterfly valve clamps the wafer flanges on the pipeline through the clamping force of the butt-clamp flanges, and then seals the flanges through the gaskets.
Installation method
Flange butterfly valves are generally installed by flange connection, by setting up separate flange connection on the pipeline; while wafer butterfly valves are installed by butt-clamping the butt-clamping flange on the pipeline.
Structural differences
Wafer butterfly valve with longer bolts, and no flange itself, so generally do not install at the end of the pipeline and downstream need to dismantle the position, because in the dismantling of the downstream flange, the clamped valve will fall, so that the valve at both ends of the pipeline can not work properly; and flange butterfly valve does not have such a problem, the flange body has a flange, and the pipeline with flange pairing with a bolt connection, the nut locking, so that when one end is removed, the valve is connected to the pipeline by a bolt connection, and the nut locking. So when one end is removed, it will not affect the operation of the other end.
Price difference
Wafer butterfly valve is cheaper compared to flange butterfly valve. There is no flange at both ends of the body of the wafer butterfly valve, only a few pilot bolt holes, and the valve is connected to the end flange with a set of bolts/nuts. In contrast, it is easier to disassemble and the valve is cheaper, but the disadvantage is that if one sealing surface is out of order, both sealing surfaces have to be disassembled.
